About this deal

They each hold 20 bobbins and you don’t have to fill it to capacity for it to work. You can add just one bobbin if you like and the threads don’t come loose. Personally I found this wasn’t perfect and the thread would come loose if just tossed into a container with other threads. If you are neater than me and keep your threads neatly lined up then I can’t see you having this problem.

I fell in love with these at the last sewing retreat I was on. My good friend Viv had her bobbins in one of these bobbin boxes, and I think they’re so ingenious. These Brothread Spool Saversconsist of small twisted pieces of flexible silicon that can be wrapped around various spools of thread to keep the loose thread tails contained. They come in bright cheerful colors and fit tightly enough around the spool that they do not interfere with storage of your thread. I like them and I use them. Some vintage threads are beautiful. They clamp neatly around your bobbins to keep the loose threads contained. You know what happens when it’s time to change the bobbin thread. You probably just take out the old bobbin, install the new one with a different color thread and toss the previous bobbin into a tray, basket or box without thinking about it. Everyone who sews has done it. And it doesn’t take long for one or two or more bobbins to start unwinding.

I do think that the wire spools would do a great job of keeping the cones from bumping into each other inside a plastic box. DIY thread storage ideas Pegboards for thread storage The interior spindles keep the threads from bumping into each other, and they’re maximized for space.

If you begin using a bobbin thread clip, you can still just toss the bobbins into a basket, but with the loose threads neatly contained, your basket will no longer become a bird’s nest. When you use a bobbin organizer, the bobbins will be neatly nestled in their own spots. You can even keep them all organized by color spectrum, so you can see at a glance where your bobbins in a particular hue are. The Gutermann boxes are a nice bonus to the thread assortment, but this ArtBin thread box is a nice upgrade for a more sturdy box.
